Choices

It has been one of those weeks. Today – All I want to do is get into my paints, my art journal, or even just scrapbook BUT… I’m a mom of a 4 year old (need I say more). And anyway who can resist this little guy????? Even if I’m in serious mommy is looking at the computer mode he jumps in beside me hence the photo caught by the web cam.

I had been joking (really threatening) him about making a family rules poster and hanging it where everyone could see – since he was having trouble remembering what was a good choice was. Well it is official we have family rules. I quickly wrote the words and he decorated with watercolors and spray inks. We all signed it at the bottom and it hangs on the closet door in the studio.

As I stared at the poster today I realized it is such a reminder that I HAVE CHOICES I don’t have to stay in my rut. I don’t have to let anothers actions rob me of my joy. I don’t have to make your priority mine. I don’t have to clean or even shower for that matter. I don’t have to feel like art is something I do late a night – I have the choice to weave into my everyday. And each day I have all new choices – thank God!
